Abstract
The 13C NMR spectra of Si(acac)2Cl2 Si(acac)2(acetato)2, Si(acac)3Cl, Ge(acac)2 Cl2, Ge(acac)2Br2 and Ge(acac)3I are reported. The data is consistent with the disproportionation of Si(acac)2Cl2 into Si(acac)3Cl and SiCl4, whereas Si(acac)2(acetato)2 Ge(acac)2Cl2 and Ge(acac)2Br2 each exist in solution as a mixture of cis and trans isomers. The carbon atoms of the cis isomers of these compounds are not exchanging at room temperature.
