Abstract

The title cations can be generated from the BF₃.Et₂O mediated ionization of (acetoxymethylene-butadiene)Fe(CO)₃ complexes. The cation reacts with carbon nucleophiles predominantly at C-4 to afford (trimethylenemethane)Fe(CO)₃ products.
