Abstract
The title cations can be generated from the BF3.Et2O mediated ionization of (acetoxymethylene-butadiene)Fe(CO)3 complexes. The cation reacts with carbon nucleophiles predominantly at C-4 to afford (trimethylenemethane)Fe(CO)3 products.
