Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of how and why postcolonial logics are relevant and, in fact, central to the ideals and praxis of communication ethics. It captures the works of key postcolonial theorists and demonstrates through case studies and illustrations how those theories are applicable in creating, implementing, and sustaining ethical, self/other-aware, responsive, and accountable action in communication. The key works are discussed within the contexts of relevant postcolonial themes, namely, historical and cultural specificity, power and marginalization, intersectionality, representation and stereotypes, modern forms of imperialism, and decolonizing efforts. The illustrations and case studies are drawn from a variety of subfields within the communication studies discipline.
