Abstract

The starting point of all theology, said Bonhoeffer, is the reality of God. The statement is deceptively simple and, in a sense, cliche. But if it is allowed to stay in the mind and in the imagination for a long period of time it begins to develop a life of its own. It makes its own noises, it carves its own space, it draws attention to itself. In short, it wants to be understood. It might be said that this dissertation is an attempt to understand what Bonhoeffer meant by the reality of God as the starting point of theology...
