Abstract

For the cytological study of the gametophytic and the sporophytic phases of Pteris Parkeri Hort. material was obtained from three sources. Portions of fronds from plants grown in the Department of Botany of the University of Wisconsin were fixed in 1919 by Dr. W. N. Steil and furnished excellent material for sectioning. Fronds from plants grown in the Garfield Park Conservatory, Chicago provided much of the material for the study of the sporogenous cells. From plants cultivated in the Marquette University greenhouse, originally procured from Mr. J. F.
