Abstract
A rationale for this dissertation is developed by considering five questions which pertain to the study of God concepts in children. Why conduct research in the area of teaching religion? Basic to the rationale for this study is an understanding of the significance of research in the area of teaching religion. For many, religion is at the heart of existence. Goldman (1965, p. xi) quotes M.v.c. Jeffreys: "Religious truth is normal experience understood at full depth; what makes truth religious is not that it relates to some abnormal field of thought and feeling but that it goes to the roots of the experience which it interprets."...
