Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the perceived level of collaborative behavior on inpatient units, both RN-RN collaborative behavior and RNMD collaborative behavior, and years of RN experience are associated with patients' perception of the quality of discharge teaching. These phenomena are of concern to RNs and health care leaders because of their relationship with quality of care, patient safety, and overall organizational effectiveness (Institute of Medicine, 2001).
