Abstract
This work aims to be a study in the field of oratorical achievement. It aims to answer, partially, the question, "what makes a great orator?" More accurately, it aims to discover and point out those factors which have been instrumental in the development of those men who achieved excellence on the platforms of America. By factors is meant any and all influences, from within or without, hereditary or environmental, in the school, the home, or outside. By instrumental is meant effective, i.e. effective in the production of the particular set of assets and abilities possessed by the man who had achieved platform excellence is meant those who have produced the great pieces of American oratory.
