Abstract
The application of organoiron complexes in the organic synthesis has recently shown great promise due to their ease of preparation, resolution and diastereoselective reactivities. This study explores the possibility of utilizing these complexes for the synthesis of biological interesting linear polyenes--leukotrienes. The total syntheses of racemic and optically active 5-HETE methyl ester have been accomplished by the established methodologies.
