Abstract
The objectives of this study were two-fold. First, the development of a micro-electrophoresis technique to separate and characterize species of soluble proteins from minute tissue samples, and second, the application of this technique to analyze soluble proteins from the salivary gland and other tissues of Sciara coprophila during the larval-pupal transformation. This research provides the groundwork for future studies of the salivary gland, possibly done in conjunction with cytogenic analysis of the gland chromosomes.
