Abstract
The studies reported in this thesis represent a segment of a continuing investigation concerning the role of the splanchnic circulation in the pathogenesis of irreversible circulatory failure. This general area of circulatory physiology has constituted the major research interest of our group during the tenure of the author as a U.S. Public Health Service Post-doctoral Fellow and Instructor in the Department of Physiology, Marquette University School of Medicine.
