Abstract
Bernard Lonergan's and Gibson Winter's foundations for religious social ethics no only complement one another but are also relevant for interdisciplinary collaboration. In this inquiry I have transposed, as much as possible, these two scholars' own categories into the theory-praxis terms of value judgments in order to highlight both the complementarity and the collaboration. From the beginning to the end Rev. Matthew L. Lamb, who directed my work, was an unending source of guidance and tactful encouragement. Professor Gibson Winter was generous both in granting me several interviews from 1974 to 1977, and in his sensitive openness to the ideas herein advanced.
