Abstract
The effect of pressure on the crystal structures of silicon oxynitride, germanium oxynitride, α- and β-polymorphs of silicon nitride has been measured at pressures up to 35 kbars at room temperature using neutron time-of-flight diffraction techniques. Results of this study permit interpretation of the compressibility behavior based on the structural rearrangements that occur with pressure.
