Abstract
The main objective of the essay is the use of VAX-11 DBMS to design a database which automates the check-out procedures for graduating students in the Maquette University Graduate School. The first chapter of the essay focuses on the definition, advantages, and organization of the database. Chapter 2 goes on to introduce the 3 different structures of .storing and retrieving data. certain unique commands, The function, the appli6ation of and the introduction of 5 steps necessary to design a database using VAX-11 DBMS are discussed in chapters 3 and 4. The actual application of schema, subschema, storage-schema, loading program, and application program are the topics for chapter 5. I have concluded the essay by discussing the use of using VAX-11 DBMS for designing this database.
