Abstract

Various methods for the generation of transcendental functions are discussed. Some are more applicable to digital processing while others are better suited for analog processing. The Cordie method has emerged as the simplist and least expensive implementation and has made possible the inclusion of transcendental functions in smaller hand-held calculators.
