Abstract
The purpose of this study was to describe phenomena related to having a terminal illness. The subject was followed for eight and one half months from the time the metastasis was diagnosed until her death. Notation of all nurse-patient and nurse-family interactions were made after each of the sixty visits. With the use of content analysis, six phenomena were identified. In their order of frequency, they were denial, pain, anxiety, hope, growth, and the Liebesleben Fantasy.
