Abstract
This paper is intended to serve as an overview of the mechanisms by which charge carriers are transported through heterogeneous composite mixtures. The composite mixtures considered are composed of two main ingredients-conductive particulate matter dispersed in an insulating media. The scope of this investigation was limited to composites in which the conductive particles are widely dispersed on an average and the insulating media dominates a given volume of material. Thus, "mixtures which utilize thin boundary layers to control conduction as 1n varistors and barrier-layer capacitors are not included in this study.
