Abstract
Martin Luther's understanding of Testament was of critical importance for formulating and developing his theology. The major quest ion to be considered is whether Luther's concept of testament changed after 1525. During these final years of this decade there were strong pressures upon Luther to compromise his testamental conviction. The Roman Catholic approach emphasized a powerful sacrificial understanding of theology. At the same time, the Enthusiasts emphasized a Covenant approach to theology which would culminate in the Marburg Colloquy. In the face of persuasive arguments against testament, did Luther adapt his view to one side or the other?
