Abstract
This paper intends to sketch, with minimal comment, the use Luke has made of the Elijah and Elisha cycles (1 K 19 -- 2 K 8) in writing his two books. An interpretation is implied in the development of the paper, and found more explicitly in the few summary statements and in the conclusion, but the primary thrust is to provide a fairly comprehensive outline of the Old - New Testament parallels. The pericope titles are taken from the Jerusalem Bible.
