Abstract
The purpose of this essay is to discuss an analytical procedure that calculates the deflected shape of redundant beams under inelastic loading. The loading considered is of magnitude sufficient to cause yielding but not great enough to exceed the ultimate beam strength. To provide simplicity in computations, the stress-strain characteristic of the beam material is assumed to be ideally elastic-plastic.
