Abstract
Student inadequacy in physical education classes has been evident on many levels for many years. This may be due to student indifference or laziness. Perhaps a better explanation for this problem is the alarmingly poor physical condition or levels of fitness of today's youth. students are observed exhibiting a shortness of breath when engaging in any sort of running, a marked lack of upper body strength when it is required, and some even have trouble stretching to catch a ball.
This paper attempts to point out the need for a program of fitness for elementary aged children, and specifically at St. Paul's Lutheran School and what steps teachers and students can follow.
