Abstract
This research paper resulted from recent publications (1956- 1959) revealing deficiencies in the physical fitness of American youth. The writer was interested in determining the status of Marquette University male freshmen in terms of physical fitness. In an attempt to answer this question, the author surveyed the literature, selected a physical fitness test and supervised its administration. The data were recorded and analyzed. The resultant findings served as a basis for the summaries and conclusions formulated in this paper.
