Abstract
A catalyst is an element within a system which accelerates, stimulates, or initiates a reaction in that system while emerging from the system essentially unchanged. This is a fair statement of the computer's impact on mathematics education at Palmyra High School, Palmyra, Pennsylvania. It accelerates the student's learning process because it stimulates interest in mathematics. Many problems considered beyond high school students may be investigated and in this sense the computer initiates mathematics education.
