Abstract
Students who come from deprived underprivileged backgrounds find it hard to do well in the public schools. A major part of their problem sterns from the type of life style
they experience. This child may have a negative attitude toward education, be distrustful of school personnel, and may not have a genuine opportunity to compete on equal footing with middle - class children from affluent homes. Many of the disadvantaged feel that they have little or no opportunity to compete or better themselves in today's society.
