Abstract

A close study of characterization in any novel reveals a great deal about both technique and themes . Perhaps an examination of the narrative technique in F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby and The Last Tycoon would clarify some of the basic differences in the storytellers, while, at the same time, revealing essential similarities in the two novels.
