Abstract
This guideline is designed to supplement the Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) booklet which provides the basic information a CHF patient needs regarding his/her treatment. The CHF patient and his/her family are most likely concerned about acute illness factors, such as the disruption of personal and family life, pain, dying, and financial concerns. Therefore, questions to assess the patient's motivation and readiness to learn are vital and provided; as are questions to assess acquired knowledge and attitude prior to discharge. Review with your patient only those parts of the booklet that are pertinent to his/her needs.
