Abstract

My interest in the developmental aspect of counseling was stimulated as the result of a course in Individual Counseling taught by Doctor Harvey Kaufman at Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The problems involved in counseling for adjustment at each phase of life with special interest in the continual formation of the religious became a matter of concern for me at the time. Both the lectures and the assigned research motivated me to give the matter further study, especially since m.y own community is preparing for its special renewal chapter. Since problems in some aspects of community living seemed relevant to developmental counseling, I decided for purposes of clarification and understanding to make a deeper study of what our communities are planning education for ageing in so far as it related to the field of a counselor in a religious community.
