Abstract
Most of the world's great problems stem from man's inability or inept efforts to understand his fellow man. The crises of the past and present bear constant witness to this. And yet, before man can ever know or understand others, he must first know and understand himself. Before he can assist others in positive and fulfilling roles, he must himself have established a high degree of psychological effectiveness. This is the fundamental purpose of guidance, and more particularly of individual counseling.
