Abstract
Current research at Marquette University is concerned with studies of the results of the application of diffuse electric currents to the head applied between glabella and inion. Detailed studies of current characteristics, respirations, cardiac function, blood gases, animal behavior, muscle responses, gastric secretion, and other physiological functions were made.
A set of experiments was designed to measure intracerebral current pathways, current density values and resistivity parameters in the stubtail macaque (macaca speciosa) monkey. During the initial phases of this investigation it was noted that the cortical and in depth impedances changed markedly when an animal died of unknown causes.
This effect was so interesting that parallel studies were initiated to investigate changes in cerebral impedances in animals and humans during traumatic states.
