Abstract
The Church today needs religious vocations. "The harvest is great but the laborers are few." The Church can carry out her divine mandate only when she has sufficient personnel. Prescinding from the direct intervention of the Holy Spirit, the influence of the Church in the world will be proportional to the effectiveness of her leaders. This is true for all levels - hierarchy, priests, religious brothers and sisters, and laity. The Second Vatican Council was primarily pastoral Council. This means that the emphsis was placed on bring the people of God closer to God and to each other in charity, rather than on doctrine. Shining through the Council documents is the realization by the Council fathers, of the Church's need for laborers for the vineyard. In other words, our boys and girls, young men and young women, must hear the call of the Master, °Come follow, and enter the seminary or the convent.
