Abstract

Among the pressing needs felt by school authorities in the Philippines, today, none can rival the urgency found in all schools concerning the lack of organized guidance programs. Every year, enrolments steadily increase. An additional ten per cent hike of the student population and even more, in some instances, is a common feature of educational growth within the postwar years. In 1953-54, there were fifteen types of secondary curricula according to the classification of the Bureau of Public Schools and the Bureau of Private Schools. And yet, no form of organized guidance exists; whatever assistance the students is offered comes by way of incidental guidance alone.
