Abstract

Milwaukee Trade and Technical High School (Tech) is unique because of its requirement that students enter either a technical or trade curricular sequence which is built around an academic program structure. Tech has a long and proud tradition as a trade and technical school, the only school in the state of Wisconsin to offer its students the opportunity to earn a special certificate in addition to the standard high school diploma. This certificate attests that the Tech graduate has completed one of the seventeen trade or technical courses available. This "shop diploma" is highly regarded by many industries, apprenticeship programs, and post-secondary schools such as the Milwaukee School of Engineering and Milwaukee Area Technical College.
