Abstract

"Mathematical induction, highly recommended by all mathematicians, is one of the more annoying and hence avoided topics in algebra." Therein lies the challenge facing high school mathematics teachers today. The Principle of Mathematical Induction is recognized as an important tool in all branches of mathematics as can be witnessed by its numerous and widely varying applications. Extensive lists of these applications can be found in articles by W.H. Bussey and Raymond Garver.
