Abstract

The organization of Lutheran schools of the Missouri Synod gives the principal greater responsibility as a supervisor than in most public schools. Every congregation has the supervisory power over its own small school system, and the principal generally is responsible for the administration and supervision of the school. Almost all Lutheran school principals are also full-time teachers because most Lutheran schools are small schools. Since Lutheran principals can seldom use classroom visitation as a means of supervision, the faculty meeting has become one of the basic techniques in the supervision of instruction.
