Abstract

November 20, 1815, was truly a momentous date not only for the history of Europe, but for the history of the world. It was the climax of a chain of events twenty-six years in the making in Europe and a first step in mankind's ongoing quest for worldwide peace. Two treaties, the Second Peace of Paris and the Quadruple Alliance, were signed on this date. Both embodied the work carried out the previous year in Vienna, where the four great powers of Europe (Austria, Great Britain, Russia, and Prussia), the victors over Napoleon, had re-drawn the face as well as the personality of the content.
