Abstract

It is generally believed that the adequacy of the cardiovascular adjustments to exercise is a valid measure of physical efficiency. This study utilized a cardiovascular measure of physical efficiency in a boy's aquatic testing program. The study arose out of the considerable doubt and difference of opinion regarding the isolation of one significant factor in an aquatic program consigned to average skills and ability. Information gathered in the study should prove valuable to those responsible for the re-organization of aquatic programs of this type as well as to those responsible for the actual instruction of such a program. Finally, it should stimulate further study of the operation of the physical efficiency factor in aquatic programs and the many associated problems in this area.
