Abstract
Franciscan Father Fridolin Schuster's feeling of mission to the Indians burned as fiercely as the chili con carne the Indians served him for breakfast on his first trip to the Pueblos.
Schuster's mission was to convert his Indian friends to Catholicism - the one true faith he firmly believed - and help them live as Christian Indians in the Pueblos. He set out to place their feet firmly on the Catholic paths of righteousness, although subconsciously he realized he was fighting a losing battle.
