Abstract
The History of Speech Correction in the Diocese of Pittsburgh is submitted as an essay to satisfy the requirement for the Master of Science degree in Speech at Marquette University. The essay, which summarizes the events of the past seven years, is a tribute to those pioneers who have expended energy, time and money to realize this important project. Many of those who pioneered in this field have died and left us a worthy heritage. They dreamed, planned and worked unselfishly in order that the children of this Diocese would develop normally and utilize their God-given powers. It is to these worthy predecessors that tribute must be paid and whose example must be followed. May they smile on us who so imperfectly imitate their endeavors, and may they beseech the Great Teacher to give us the necessary Grace and skill to help His little ones!
