Abstract

The appearance of gross or visible blood from any body orifice causes such psychic trauma that the victim seldom needs encouragement to bring him to a physician for examination to determine the source of the blood. Blood which is not visible to the unaided eye has caused the medical profession much concern both in diagnosis and in the importance which such blood bears to hidden causes and their discovery. These small quantities of blood may be the first and only warning pointing to the presence of an early serious lesion.
