Abstract
"The appellation Son of man brings us face to face with the most involved and complicated of all the problems offered by the New Testament. The origin, the history, the significance of the term, are all questions of the greatest difficulty." Yet the title Son of man is by far the most important Christological designation in the Gospels. This paper will attempt to analyze the title as found in the Gospel of Matthew and its background in the Book of Enoch and three Old Testament sources: Psalms, Ezekiel and Daniel.
