Abstract
An electrocardiogram type of monitoring device for an automobile is presented. It is intended that it be suitable for mass production in future cars. Although the limitations on this device are great, the proposed system would still have great value in early detection of certain heart disorders. The proposal parallels, in parts, development work at Delco Electronics Division of General Motors. Delco Electronics Division has worked on an electrocardiogram monitor from an automobile steering wheel to detect abnormalities in the length of the QRS segment. This proposal goes beyond this system with what the author feels is a better alternative in respect to electrode placement, types of electrodes, and abnormalities monitored.
