Creator's notes: I chose to elaborate on the parasocial relationship piece because of BTS's long and involved cinematic universe. They have created a story in which they play characters who are not themselves, but share their given names rather than their stage names. Their stage names, too, represent a persona they're expected to fulfill onstage. These dual natures have led fans to believe that they know them, but RM's solo track Persona reveals that he doesn't even know himself. Beyond the pressures of acting, of being who he is expected to be to relate to the fans, who is he, alone? I wanted to show that parasocial relationships can affect both parties.

This piece was inspired by the Parasocial piece. I immediately wanted to play with the two figures, who I was referring to as the line and the blob. The line, to me, was what people were seeing, and the blob was the truth of the person. I decided to use Persona from Map of the Soul: Persona, which is an RM solo track. In it he talks about how he's never known who he is because he was told who to be for so long, and I think that's perfect for the parasocial inspiration. He was expected to be someone so that the fans could know him as that person (the lines, represented by the robed figure from the music video), but he never got to develop who he was outside of that (represented by the blob with the stripes and color pattern of his hoodie when he lets go in the music video).
