This video contrasts the vastly different lives lived by the two men, who were extremely close friends in their youth. This edit highlights the broken promises and ultimate betrayal caused by Steve Rogers’s decision to return to the past.

Meth Consumes seems to be about lost childhood or innocence. We see the kids in the photo and they look like regular kids playing, but the title of the piece and the writing on the mural tell us that there’s something darker going on. The song “Peter” is also about lost innocence—the lost innocence of a love where one person just couldn’t grow up and be who the other person needed them to be. In the relationship between Steve and Bucky, they lost their innocence thanks to war, human scientific experimentation, and (in Bucky’s case) torture and brainwashing. Now, Bucky is disillusioned with Steve in the same way the “Wendy” character in the song is disillusioned with “Peter”. Steve chooses to regress and returns to the 1940’s, while Bucky, who chooses to live in the present, realizes Steve is refusing to grow up. Similar to Bucky, the kids in the photo might be disillusioned with their childhood.
