Abstract
In the works of Juvenal, we find graphic pictures of the complex Roman civilization which was rapidly moving to its destruction towards the middle of the second century. The purpose of this thesis is to present a kaleidoscopic view of Roman society and social life, as gleaned from a study of the sixteen satires of Juvenal.
