Abstract
The purpose of writing this thesis is to study the life and works of Jakob Kneip. This study therefore places to the present the life, and work of a Catholic author from the Rhineland who has achieved great merit as a lyricist, epic writer and critic and who according to all appearances continues to serve poetic literature and at the same time the best interests of Catholicism. He has struggled for his religious convictions and has animated his writings with its lofty spirit.
