Abstract
I do not attempt in this paper to defend Ruskin's "intrusion" of morality into esthetics. I do not think it needs defense. What is attempted here is to give an outline of the relation of morality to art and the artist as John Ruskin conceived it; then to present scholastic thought on this relation. Finally there is a brief estimate of Ruskin's work in light of these principles.
