Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to trace the reputation of Shelley in America between 1822-1860. In order to discover America's attitude toward Shelley I examined and collected comments published in American periodicals by American reviewers, as well as the reprints from English magazines which appeared in these periodicals. I have also examined the letters and journals of American literary men which were printed and circulated during this period.
