Abstract
This study assessed the validity of an assertion made by a news consultant at the Christine Craft v. Metromedia trial: Female viewers are more critical of a female newscaster's appearance than are male viewers. The purpose of this study was twofold: 1) to replicate in the news category what has been done in other studies testing for the effects of physical attractiveness, and 2) to extend the research to determine if there are differences in male and female response to a female news anchor's physical attractiveness.
