Abstract
It is often asserted that one particular Catholic newspaper is "good", that another is "bad" and that a third is"ridiculous." In most cases, the standard of judgment is political, i.e., how the paper stands on current issues facing the church. Rarely does the criticism consider the diocesan paper as a medium of information, principally because the information function has remained largely undefined. It is hoped that the data presented here will prove helpful toward such a definition.
