Abstract

This thesis was undertaken to discover whether the secular daily newspaper will give the same type of coverage to a religious news event as it will give to a political, social, human interest, or sports news event. How does religious news coverage compare to the secular paper's coverage of other news events? Does the very nature of our religiously pluralistic society prevent the editor of a secular newspaper from making a successful attempt to work out definite, meaningful religious news policies and procedures?
